The questions is like this: sqr(2) + sqr(1), and the asnwer is 1 + sqr(2), or in decimal form: 2.4142
Answered by
Ms. Sue
1.4142 + 1 + k = 2.24
2.4142 + k = 2.24
k = -0.1742
2.4142 + k = 2.24
k = -0.1742

unless it's
√2 + √(1+k) = 2.24
√(1+k) = .8258
1+k = .6819
k = -.3181
check:
√2 + √.6819 = 2.24
√2 + √(1+k) = 2.24
√(1+k) = .8258
1+k = .6819
k = -.3181
check:
√2 + √.6819 = 2.24

ah - I see this is a rehash of
√2 + √(1+k) = √5
√(1+k) = √5-√2
1+k = 5-2√10+2
k = 6-2√10
√2 + √(1+k) = √5
√(1+k) = √5-√2
1+k = 5-2√10+2
k = 6-2√10
