I'm writing a paper on "Operation Desert Storm" of 1991, and I understand the facts. But one of the questions my teacher wants me to answer is: What is the significance of your topic?
So, in other words, what would be the significance of Operation Desert Storm? Please Help!

Two things to think about:
1. I've heard people say (and I'm not sure if I agree or not; still thinking on this one) that if the Gulf War had not ended short of deposing (or whatever) Saddam Hussein, then we wouldn't be in this mess now. It's a thinking point, not a truth, since there's no way to predict the future, then or now!
2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Schwarzkopf,_Jr. Scroll down and read the section on The Gulf War. Read it very carefully.
Other teachers will have further thoughts, no doubt.
