Identify the infinitive phrase in the following sentence.
Too many people drive to work when it would be just as easy for them to ride the bus.

"to" is both a preposition and a part of the infinitive construct. It can be confusing...
Look up diagramming sentences on line, and you may learn quite a bit about the construction of sentences. It used to be taught as a part of English instruction. I learned in the 8th grade, and it was invaluable. A good intro can be found here:
