What does this sentence mean?
The thorns of the roses and the roses' fragrance equal each other.
Does it mean that there is good for the bad, and that it is okay to have the bad because there is enough good?

I wouldn't use moralistic terms. To me that means that everything has positive and negative attributes. Rainy days spoil some fun but provide needed moisture for plants.
