Sam has 9 yellow pencils in his desk. 3/4 of his pencils are yellow. How many pencils does Sam have in his desk?

3rd grade fraction, slightly confusing to me

3/4x = 9

Divide both sides of the equation by 3/4.

3/4x = 9

x = 9/(3/4)

x = 9 * (4/3)

x = 36 / 3 = 12
