1) you have a good start - but put the boys 1st -- 24 to 16 then reduce until you get 3 to 2. One way to check would be out of 5 students 3 are boys and 2 are girls 40 students divided by our 5 is 8 sub groups and 8 times our 3 boys is a total of 2 boys and 2 girls times 8 is 1 so the 3 to 2 checks out.
2) One way to solve this would be to find out the total crowd. adults are 3 out of 8 which is .375 %. to find the total group take the adults 1740 and divide by .375 % and you get 4640. Then take the 4640 and subtract the adults 1740 and you get 2900 children.

how many children go to the park on that day?
