Friction is usually the killer of efficiency. How does a ramp relate to friction?

When an object is placed on a ramp; the
friction is ,usually, a fraction of the
component of weight perpendicular to the
ramp. This fraction is call the coefficient of friction(u). Mathematically, Fk = u*Fn where Fn is the Normal and is perpendicular to the
ramp. Fk is the force of kinetic friction.
