Can anyone explain how to graph x < 3?

draw a dotted vertical line at x = 3
Shade in the region to the left of that boundary line.

I assumed you were on the x-y plane

If you are just on a number line, put an open circle at x=3, then draw in the line to the left of that with an arrow at its end point.
