How do you solve 4x+4=9x-36?
I understand that you need to get the variables alone but to I add or subtract 9x to both sides?

4 x + 4 = 9 x - 36
9 x + 4 = 9 x + 4
===================== subtract
-5 x + 0 = 0 x - 40

-5 x = -40 divide both sides by 5
x = 8
