1 - You're asking someone to play a song on whatever musical instrument he/she uses. If I asked this of my grandson, he'd play something on his clarinet. If I asked a friend of mine in California, she's play something on her piano.
2 - This is about the same thing, but it seems to be asking someone who can play several different instruments ... and the person can choose which one.
3 - This is not the same as the ones above. I'd also rephrase it: Would you turn on some music for me? (... implying that the music would be on the radio or some other source ... but not played by the other person)
1. Will you play a song for me?
2. Will you play a musical instrument for me?
3. Will you turn a umsic record on for me?
(Does #1 mean #2 or #3? What is the meaning of #1?)
