It said that number 1 was wrong that the answer is Hispanic.

Take a look at the Demographics section again, which reflects the US Census. I misread this question, in that it's asking about <b>ethnic group</b>, not <b>racial group</b>. So, yes -- Hispanic is right. If you notice, "Hispanic" is not among the racial categories in that section of the article.

In all the WWI and WWII draft cards and in the 1940 census (and previous ones, too), anyone who was Mexican or Mexican American or any other "Hispanic" designation was listed as White. All!!

Hispanics are considered white, racially. However, the link that Writeacher posted shows a high Hispanic population.

I'm glad you did! These kinds of things make us all aware of how well we do or don't read ALL the words in a question!!

And yes, Ms. Sue is right -- those negatively phrased questions are just awful. Personally, I think they are deliberately written to be trick questions, and that doesn't test knowledge, in my opinion.
