1. What are the first 5 terms of the sequence given by the formula a_n= 6n + 1?

a. 7, 13, 19, 25, 31
b. 1, 7, 13, 19, 25
c. 6, 12, 18, 24, 30
d. 13, 19, 25, 31, 37

2. Write a recursive definition for the sequence 8, 6, 4, 2, ... ,
a. a_1=8;a_n=a_n-1 -2
b. a_1= 2;a_n = a_n-1 +6
c. a_1 = 8;a_n = a_n-1 +2
d. a_1=2; a_n = a_n-1 +8

3. write an explicit formula for the sequence -13, -6, 1, 8, ...
a. a_n = -13n + 7
b. a_n = -13 + (n+7)
c. a_n = -13 + 7(n-1)
d. a_n = -13n + 7
( yes I am aware that number three has the same answer for a and d. that is what is on my assignment though, so i typed it.)

#1. Just plug in the vales for n: 1,2,3,4,5 ...
a_1 = 6*1 + 1 = 7
and so on
shucks -- I guess that narrows down the choices, yeah?

#2. Just keep subtracting 2
a_1 = 8
a_(n+1) = a_n - 2

#3. clearly there is a common difference of 7
so a_n = a + (n-1)d = -13 + 7(n-1)
better review your AP section.

When did they start doing this much randomizing?
Since we started cheating XDXD
Cheating is not acceptable. It is important to do homework and assignments honestly in order to learn and grow as a student. Cheating can have serious consequences and can harm your academic progress in the long run.
