I'm no anatomical genius but,

1.) is incorrect since sperm is only found in males.
2.) correct
3.) Eggs are not supposed to really provide anything to the mother. The egg + sperm is the child (zygote). First think of how a zygote (male sex cell + female sex cell) would begin to "grow" towards a human size. (Fertilizing begins or increases growth)
4.) The ovaries produce eggs and release them. That leaves only one tangible answer to protect your embryo.
5.) I believe D is correct. Carbon Dioxide is harmful to humans, and surely number 4 can help confirm the process of elimination in this problem.
