so positive first
3. (Mg) ion has a +2 charge. Chlorate (ClO3) has a −1 charge.
so you need TWO chlorates for every ONE Magnesium
Mg (ClO3)2
4yes
5 yes
Chlorite is ClO2^-
chlorate is ClO3^-
chloride is Cl^-
And YES, doubling the answer choices is confusing. The only thing worse than that is doubling the questios as well as the answers.
The entire "chain" is
Cl2 is the element, chlorine, which is diatomic.
ClO^- hypochlorite ion
ClO2^- chlorite ion
ClO3^- chlorate ion
ClO4^- perchlorate ion
