The slope-intercept form is called that because it shows you the slope. If
y = mx + b, then
the slope is m
the y-intercept is b
#2. If you rearrange the equation to read
y = (-4x+15)/3 = -4/3 x + 5
then you can just read off the intercept.
Note that the two lines are perpendicular, since the product of their slopes is -1.
1. Find the slope for the following line: y=(3/4)x-7
A. -7
B. 7
C. 3/4
D. -4/3
2. What is the y-intercept of the graph of the line given by the equation 3y+4x=15?
A. 5
B. 4
C. 3
D. -4/3
Can someone please help answer the questions, but also explain them so I know how to do it next time? Thanks!
