1.Find an equation of the line that passes through (4,3) and is parallel to the line 3x-y=7.

2. Find the equation of the line through (4,3) perpendicular to the line 3x+y=7.
Please show work so I know how to do it

1 answer

recall the point-slope form for a line.

#1 the slope is 3, so

y-3 = 3(x-4)

Similarly for #2, except the slope is 1/3. (why?)
