3 answers
2. - A ball rolling down a hill.
- A car speeding up.
- A rocket launching into space.
3. How is water and steam alike?
- Both water and steam are made up of the same molecule, which is H2O.
- Both water and steam can undergo phase changes from liquid to gas and vice versa.
How is water and steam different?
- Water is in a liquid state at room temperature, while steam is in a gaseous state.
- Water has a lower temperature compared to steam.
4. - Light bulb converting electrical energy into light energy.
- LED screen converting electrical energy into light energy.
- Fluorescent lamp converting electrical energy into light energy.
5. A thermometer could be used to test the transfer of kinetic energy between water and ice. By measuring the change in temperature of the water and ice, we can determine if any energy transfer has occurred.
6. A warm cup of milk would have higher kinetic energy compared to a cold cup of milk. This is because temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles in a substance. A warm cup of milk has higher average kinetic energy of its particles, resulting in a higher temperature.
Why? The particles in a warm cup of milk are moving faster and have more energy compared to the particles in a cold cup of milk. Therefore, the warm cup of milk has a higher kinetic energy.
