With or without “the” is fine.
It is not standard English to start a sentence with “but” — use “However,” to indicate contrast.
1. But, production of the parts has been causing problems in the auto industry.
2. But, the production of the parts has been causing problems in the auto industry.
Do we have to put 'the' before "production of the parts"?
