1.1 Showcase Lesson:
For my TP assessment, I conducted a Creative Arts lesson on collage-making with a Year 4 class. I chose this activity because it allowed students to explore their creativity, experiment with different materials, and learn about composition.

The lesson started with a brief introduction to collage as an art form and examples of famous collages. I then explained the objectives of the lesson and the steps involved in creating a collage. I provided a variety of materials such as coloured paper, magazines, scissors, and glue sticks for the students to use.

Overall, the lesson went well as the students were engaged and excited about the activity. They were eager to cut out images from magazines and arrange them on their collage. I noticed that the students were able to showcase their individuality through their choice of images and the composition of their collages.

However, one aspect that did not work so well was the time management. I had planned for the activity to take 30 minutes, but it ended up taking longer than expected. Some students needed additional time to select images and arrange them on their collages. As a result, I had to rush through the reflection and sharing part of the lesson.

If I were to present the lesson again, I would allocate more time for the activity and plan for a shorter reflection/sharing session. I would also consider providing a wider variety of materials to cater to different student preferences. Additionally, I would incorporate more opportunities for peer feedback and discussion to enhance the collaborative aspect of the lesson.

1.2 Alternative Lessons:

Lesson 1 (Assessed): Drama Role-Play
Description: In this lesson, students were divided into groups and assigned different characters from a story. They had to create a short skit or role-play based on their assigned characters. The aim was to help students develop their drama skills, collaboration, and understanding of characters.
Assessment: My mentor teacher assessed the students based on their portrayal of the characters, creativity, and ability to work as a team.

Lesson 2 (Assessed): Music Composition
Description: In this lesson, students were introduced to basic music composition using a digital software or a simple melody-making app. They learned about different musical elements such as rhythm, melody, and harmony. They had to compose a short piece of music individually or in pairs.
Assessment: My mentor teacher assessed the students based on their understanding of musical elements, creativity, and the final composition.

Lesson 3 (Not Assessed): Visual Arts Printmaking
Description: In this lesson, students explored different printmaking techniques using materials like foam, ink, and paper. They were encouraged to experiment with different textures and patterns. The aim was to introduce them to printmaking as a form of artistic expression.
Assessment: Not assessed. Emphasis was on the process of exploration and experimentation rather than the final product.

Lesson 4 (Not Assessed): Dance Choreography
Description: In this lesson, students learned basic dance moves and choreographed a short dance routine individually or in groups. They had to select appropriate music and create transitions between different moves.
Assessment: Not assessed. Focus was on students' ability to express themselves through movement and their creativity in choreographing the routine.

Lesson 5 (Assessed): Media Literacy
Description: In this lesson, students learned about media literacy and how to critically analyze advertisements. They were shown different advertisements and had to identify persuasive techniques used. They also had to create their own advertisement for a given product or service.
Assessment: My mentor teacher assessed the students based on their understanding of media literacy concepts, ability to analyze advertisements, and creativity in creating their own advertisement.

1.3 Critical Reflection:
Throughout my TP experience as a Creative Arts and Life Skills Teacher, I have learned a lot about classroom practice, classroom management, and administration.

One area where I believe I have grown is in my ability to engage and motivate students during lessons. I have learned to design creative and interactive activities that cater to different learning styles and encourage student participation. I have also become more adept at providing clear instructions and scaffolding to support student learning.

In terms of classroom management, I have improved my skills in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. I have learned to establish clear expectations and routines, manage transitions effectively, and address behavioral issues proactively. I have also learned the importance of building positive relationships with students and fostering a sense of belonging in the classroom.

Administratively, I have become more organized and efficient in planning and preparing lessons. I have learned to utilize resources effectively and adapt my lessons based on the needs and interests of the students. I have also gained experience in collaborating with colleagues, attending professional development sessions, and reflecting on my teaching practice.

Overall, my TP experience as a Creative Arts and Life Skills Teacher has been challenging but rewarding. I have developed a deeper understanding of the importance of creativity and holistic education in the lives of students. I have also become more confident in my abilities as a teacher and have a clearer vision of my future career path.
